Moving at the speed of life.

Millions of miles logged, thousands of boxes packed, no one knows better than Tom Woodaz how to make your move successful.

Our founder, Tom Woodaz, began his career in Household Goods Moving when he became a driver in order to pay for his college tuition at Northern Michigan University. Fast-forward to 1973, he and his wife Kathy, opened their own moving business bringing the UP the first United Van Lines Agency and last United Van Lines when they closed the doors in 2023. While building the business they also started building their family. Their 5 daughters were raised in the business and spent many summers training in the packing and moving of goods. It was only natural that two daughters would join the business. Carrying on the values of affordable, customer centric moves, Anna (Norman) is now the Vice President of Sales and Marketing who ensures the best price and the best service is given to our customers. Jacqueline (Kleen) is the Vice President of Operations and excels at customizing move dates according to customer’s needs, providing detailed, accurate in-home estimates, and handling the many facets of the inbound/outbound traffic in our warehouse for our storage customers.

Through the decades, The Movers at Escanaba Moving Systems has become a fixture in the UP. We rely on Tom’s extensive experience and have assisted numerous local and long-distance customers who are moving their furniture and treasured belongings we also have performed unique and unusual moves; like the Ishpeming Ski Lift, Bayliss Library, Upper Peninsula State Bank and the Marquette Forensics Lab to name a few. Although Tom and Kathy are no longer logging miles, loading and delivering customer shipments and they were are an integral part of our day to day operations.

Whether we are moving families, businesses, or once in a lifetime jobs, we continue to be small enough to respond and large enough to deliver by focusing on what has always been our number one priority, our customers. We appreciate all our customers and the opportunity to serve them and our community. Thank you for over 40 years!
